Q. What is graphic design?
A. Graphic design is the art of developing ideas. Graphic design combines the creativity of fine art with the results-focused concepts of marketing to create effective communication materials. Where graphic design differs from fine art is in its pursuit of fulfilling the client's goals. Whether convincing the public to support a social issue, helping a business attract clients, or simply teaching employees how to operate new computer software, when done effectively, every element of the design is calculated to achieve that goal.
Q. How do you create artwork?
A. Artwork will be created using CS4 or Quark Xpress 7, versatile applications which allow for images and text to be imported from other applications such as Illustrator CS4 and Adobe Photoshop CS4. When a layout has been completed a low resolution PDF will be produced for approval.
All artwork will be kept in a library and coded for future reference, backed up x2.
All pictures/images will be kept in a separate library and coded for future reference, backed up x2.
Q. Can we send you artwork?
A. To provide you with the best quality print, a high-resolution PDF or vector file such as Adobe Illustrator is the best format to supply artwork. If you create artwork in Quark or other similar programs, we will be able to convert your files.
Q. Will I see a proof before my job is printed?
A. Yes. You will receive a colour PDF or digital proof prior printing. A PDF allows you to see colour positioning (it is not exact, as all computer screens will only approximate a colour). Next step is to approve the proof and let us have it back. We will then progress your project to print.
Q. How long does it take to complete a print job?
A. Turnaround time is dependent upon the complexity of the print job and press availability. Once the proof is approved, your job is immediately sent to print.
Q. Can you send me a price list?
A. Each print job is unique and cost estimates are given based upon size, number of colours, quantity and substrate (base material). To obtain an estimate for your project, please give us a call.
Q. How can I obtain credit with your company?
A. Fill out a credit application, available from your account executive and we will review your file to determine payment terms.
Q. Where are you located?
A. SBP Creative Solutions are located in Leith, Edinburgh.
