Working with the team at SAIS, the first stage of the project was to develop a methodology that would keep the evaluation of avalanche risk as simple as possible. By breaking the process into a set of influencing factors at key locations during the planning process, it allowed us to minimise the amount of information being presented at any one time.

Key factors influencing risk are detailed throughout with access to supporting resources and tools to assist the decision making process. The toolset makes best use of smart phone technology; it includes a clinometer to measure slope angle, a slope aspect tool that integrates with the avalanche risk rose from the daily SAIS avalanche reports to provide an in screen risk analysis of the slopes around your location when in the mountains. Users have access to current avalanche reports as well as being able to report avalanches directly from the app.
